After three games on the road, Lecanto is heading back home. They will take on The Springstead Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lecanto will be strutting in after a victory while Springstead will be coming in after a defeat.
Lecanto put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 42-6 victory over Citrus on the road. The win was just what Lecanto needed coming off of a 42-0 defeat in their prior contest.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lecanto to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tez Joseph, who picked up 96 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Colton McNeely, who rushed for 53 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Springstead's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They received a tough blow as they fell 22-7 to Haines City. Having soared to a lofty 37 points in the game before, Springstead couldn't push the score so high this time.
Even if they lost, Springstead's defense sure didn't make it easy: Haines City's QB was sacked five times before it was all said and done. Haines City's QB won't forget Michael Rizzuto anytime soon given Rizzuto sacked him five times.
Lecanto now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Springstead, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
Things could have been worse for Lecanto, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 14-0 loss to Springstead in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Will Lecanto have more luck at home instead of on the road?
