Basketball Recap: New Hanover Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when New Hanover faced off against Chambers on Saturday. The Wildcats took an 80-66 bruising from the Cougars.

When it comes to explaining why New Hanover lost, don't look at Kellum Brown. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 28 points and ten boards. Brown is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Dylan Fortun was another key player, putting up 11 points and three steals.

New Hanover's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Chambers, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. New Hanover will square off against Jack Britt at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Chambers, they will take on Hickory Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars will need to watch out since the Ragin' Bulls have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
