Corinth and Hartford Central are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Corinth Riverhawks will square off against the Hartford Central Tanagers at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Corinth comes in on four and Hartford Central on three.
Last Friday, Corinth didn't have too much trouble with Whitehall at home as they won 50-32. Given Corinth's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 207th, while Whitehall is ranked 529th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Even though Hartford Central has not done well against Warrensburg recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Hartford Central secured a 52-47 W over Warrensburg.
Mckenzie Johnson and Alawnah Dunda were among the main playmakers for Hartford Central as the former scored 18 points along with six rebounds and the latter dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Raeghan Liebig, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds.
Corinth pushed their record up to 14-2 with that victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Hartford Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
Corinth strolled past Hartford Central in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a score of 50-35. Will Corinth repeat their success, or does Hartford Central have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
