The Ipswich Tigers were the 48-41 winner over the Amesbury Redhawks when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Ipswich was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 32-31 to Amesbury.
Amesbury's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ellison Talbot, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Celia Tavares, who scored nine points.
Ipswich's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Amesbury, their victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-0.
Ipswich will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hamilton-Wenham Regional at 5:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Amesbury will be home for the holidays to greet Triton Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
