McCutcheon is a perfect 5-0 against Western since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Mavericks will face off against the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. McCutcheon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
McCutcheon made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Westfield, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Mavericks fell just short of the Rocks by a score of 7-5 on Thursday. The Mavericks haven't had much luck with the Rocks recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Mady Jones was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Sydney Neumayr, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Western rose to the challenge on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Raiders 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since May 2nd.
Lucy George spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on nine hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Brynley Erb was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Western is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for McCutcheon, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. McCutcheon hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Western struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
McCutcheon got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2021 against Western by a conclusive 15-1 score. Will the Mavericks repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
