Baseball Game Preview: Northside Panthers vs. North Forest Bulldogs

Northside is a perfect 3-0 against North Forest since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. Northside is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Last Saturday, Northside made easy work of Mickey Leland College Preparatory Academy for Young Men and carried off a 17-1 win. Fans of the Panthers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

The team relied heavily on Jesus Delosreyes, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jermy Castillo, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Northside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .733. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .553 or higher in 11 consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, North Forest lost 11-2 to Furr on Saturday.

Northside's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-0. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for North Forest, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5-1.

Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Northside hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .545. However, it's not like North Forest struggles in that department as they've averaged .438. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Northside took their victory against North Forest in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 14-1 score. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
