Baseball Recap: Belfry Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

Belfry won the last time they faced Magoffin County and things went their way on Tuesday too. Belfry blew past Magoffin County 15-5. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by ten runs or more this season.

Dante Davis and Zachary Fite made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Davis tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Fite tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. At the plate, Davis scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4, while Fite scored a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Davis is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

In other batting news, Steven Vipperman was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Jones, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Belfry always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Magoffin County only posted an OBP of .406.

Belfry's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Magoffin County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Belfry will face off against Man at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Magoffin County, they will square off against Pike County Central on Thursday.
