Basketball Game Preview: Merrol Hyde Magnet Hawks vs. KIPP Nashville Collegiate Warriors

Merrol Hyde Magnet has gone 8-2 against KIPP Nashville Collegiate recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Having just played yesterday, the Merrol Hyde Magnet Hawks will get right back to it and host the KIPP Nashville Collegiate Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Merrol Hyde Magnet is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.3 points per game this season.

Merrol Hyde Magnet will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating Knowledge Academies, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Merrol Hyde Magnet took down Knowledge Academies 57-43 on Monday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Hawks as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Sam Mullins was his usual excellent self, putting up 17 points. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Harrison Gill, who went 6 for 12 en route to 14 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for KIPP Nashville Collegiate, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 36-33 win over Macon County on Saturday.

KIPP Nashville Collegiate's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-13. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Merrol Hyde Magnet, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 11-7.

Merrol Hyde Magnet didn't have too much breathing room in their game against KIPP Nashville Collegiate in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 55-50 victory.
