Ridgeland has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Northwest Rankin Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Ridgeland really took it to the Gators for the full four quarters, racking up a 65-26 win at home. Ridgeland pushed the score to 50-19 by the end of the third, a deficit the Gators had no chance of recovering from.
Ridgeland's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Raniya Fisher, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, and Eva Young, who scored 20 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Young has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Laci Buchanan, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Northwest Rankin can now show off 13 landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Oak Grove as Northwest Rankin made off with a 68-44 win. The win was familiar territory for Northwest Rankin who now have three in a row.
Ridgeland's win bumped their record up to 14-10. As for Northwest Rankin, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season.
Ridgeland came up short against the Cougars in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 53-49. Can Ridgeland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
