The Wauneta-Palisade Broncos were the 42-40 winner over the South Platte Blue Knights when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Wauneta-Palisade fell to South Platte 59-54.
Several Broncos players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Peyton Cox, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Cox scored a full 37% of Wauneta-Palisade's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Stehno, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
Wauneta-Palisade's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for South Platte, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wauneta-Palisade won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Sandhills Valley on December 16th. Sandhills Valley comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for South Platte, they will head out on the road to face off against Sutherland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Sutherland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 36 on Tuesday.
