Jon Parker Dees and Hayden Austin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Dees tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Austin tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, Dees posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. At bat, Dees scored a run and stole Two bases., while Austin scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Dees has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.
In other batting news, Wrigley Richardson was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, Park Place Christian Academy has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.11 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. They lost 14-7 to St. Joseph Catholic. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Crusaders have suffered since March 21, 2024.
Park Place Christian Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Bray, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that Bray launched this season.
Manchester Academy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Park Place Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-2.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Manchester Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .457.
