The Caldwell Redskins's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They took a 48-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Buckeye Local. Caldwell was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Buckeye Local apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Despite the loss, Caldwell saw an underclassman step up: Laynie Sidwell scored 16 points along with three steals. Sidwell hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Breighlee Moracco, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Buckeye Local's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Pamela Kandrach led the charge by dropping a double-double on 21 points and 16 rebounds. Kandrach is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 16 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Brynn McKeever, who scored 14 points.
Caldwell's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Buckeye Local, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season.
Caldwell will head out on the road to take on Barnesville at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Buckeye Local, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Catholic Central at 7:30 p.m.
