The Mount Anthony Patriots will challenge the Brattleboro Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Mount Anthony 2.4, Brattleboro 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Mount Anthony barely beat Mount Greylock Regional the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Patriots blew past the Mounties 8-2 on Tuesday. Considering the Patriots have won three games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Mount Anthony got a big performance out of Jacoby Dicranian, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Talin Bartholdi was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Brattleboro faced Hartford in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Bears came out on top against the Hurricanes by a score of 5-2. The victory continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Hurricanes: they've now won seven in a row.
Sean Cozza made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Cozza was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Brattleboro is undefeated when Cozza posts three or more RBI, but 1-3 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sam Bogart, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was John Satterfield, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
The win made it two in a row for Mount Anthony and bumps their season record up to 6-2-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Brattleboro, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Mount Anthony might still be hurting after the 9-3 defeat they got from Brattleboro in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
