The Carroll Academy Rebels are taking a road trip to square off against the Washington Generals at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Carroll Academy is headed out to face Washington after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Carroll Academy walked away with an 8-4 win over Calhoun Academy two weeks ago.
Reed Thomas made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Thomas was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Reid Blaylock was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Parker Daves was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Washington). Everything went their way against Lee Academy on Monday as Washington made off with a 15-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Generals, who have now won three games by six runs or more so far this season.
Like Carroll Academy, Washington also got a great game from a two-way player: Jones Roberson. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, Roberson didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February of 2024. He was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Charley Dunn, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and six RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Reid Henderson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Washington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Carroll Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Washington when the teams last played back in February of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. Will Carroll Academy repeat their success, or does Washington have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
