Even though The Walpole Timberwolves have not done well against the Milton Wildcats recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Walpole took down Milton 42-23. The win was all the more spectacular given Walpole's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts football rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Milton is ranked fifth).
Among those leading the charge was Noah Mackenzie, who threw for 150 yards and three touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.
Walpole's win was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 3-3. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-10 Framingham and 3-8 Newton North (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 44.7% over those games). Having lost for the first time this season, Milton fell to 5-1.
Walpole will look to defend their home field on Friday against Braintree at 5:45 p.m. As for Milton, they will head out on the road to face off against Taunton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
