Baseball Recap: Olton Comes Up Short

After flying high against Crosbyton on Monday, Olton came back down to earth. The Mustangs lost 12-2 to the Abernathy Antelopes on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Antelopes: they've now lost seven in a row.

Callen Burns was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played.

Olton's loss dropped their record down to 3-8-1. As for Abernathy, their victory bumped their record up to 2-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Olton will take on Ralls at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jackrabbits have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.83 runs per game on average), something the Mustangs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Abernathy, they will face off against New Deal at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Antelopes will need to watch out since the Lions have now posted at least ten runs in their last five contests.
