Morgan is 0-10 against Bear River since April of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Trojans will host the Bears at 3:30 p.m. Morgan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Morgan made easy work of South Summit and carried off an 8-2 victory. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Camron Talbot made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Talbot was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Talbot wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Beck Sheffield, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Tyson Talbot was another, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Bear River had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They skirted past the Miners 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bears have posted since March 21st.
Nick Oliverson was excellent, going 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Higgs, who went 1-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Bear River's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-7. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Morgan, their win bumped their record up to 14-5.
