The Hough Huskies will head out on the road to face off against the Cuthbertson Cavaliers at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Cuthbertson took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Hough, who comes in off a win.
Hough has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 42 points or more this season. They really took it to West Mecklenburg for the full four quarters, racking up a 66-13 victory on the road. Given Hough's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 144th, while West Mecklenburg is ranked 492nd), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hough found their leader in underclassman Olivia Puskarich, who scored 12 points along with three steals. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Alexis Otto, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought match, but Cuthbertson had to settle for a 41-38 loss against Ardrey Kell on Monday.
Hough is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Cuthbertson, they bumped their record down to 3-6 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Hough came up short against Cuthbertson when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 55-46. Can Hough avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
