Lanier took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 28-12 win over the Harrison Central Red Rebels.
Lanier found their leader in sophomore Knolyn Bailey, who rushed for 245 yards and two scores while picking up 7.4 yards per carry.

Lanier was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 325 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in August of 2024.
Several Red Rebels players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zahkarri McGlothin, who rushed for 127 yards and one TD on only 11 carries, and also picked up 45 receiving yards. McGlothin really tore up the turf during one magnificent 93-yard run. Leondre Franklin was another key pass catcher, picking up 106 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Harrison Central dropped their record down to 0-2 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Looking ahead, Lanier is headed away from home for the first time to take on Moss Point at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Harrison Central, they will welcome Hancock at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
