Unionville is 2-7 against Downingtown West since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Longhorns will welcome the Whippets at 4:00 p.m.
Unionville blew Sun Valley out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Sun Valley got their revenge. The Longhorns fell just short of the Vanguards by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Longhorns have suffered against the Vanguards since April 25, 2022.

Unionville got a good showing from Andrew Palahunik, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Palahunik has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Indy Riggs and Jake Wilson stepped up to the plate in a big way. Riggs got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Wilson went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Downingtown West came out on top against Downingtown East on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run second inning. The Whippets walked away with a 13-10 victory over the Cougars.
Stephen Furia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Furia was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Brett Connolly was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luke Dovidio, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Downingtown West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Downingtown West's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-11. As for Unionville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-8.
Unionville skirted past Downingtown West 5-4 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Longhorns repeat their success, or do the Whippets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
