Dearborn had lost three straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped down to 8-20-1 to make it four. They came up short against the Inter-City Baptist Chargers, falling 12-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Dearborn saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Victoria Lamb, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
As for Inter-City Baptist, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games.
On Inter-City Baptist's side, Brooke Anthony made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Anthony has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Inter-City Baptist got a massive performance out of Jules Daniels, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Daniels has posted since back in April. Chloe Smith was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
While Dearborn had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
