Coventry and La Salle Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since June of 2017, but likely not for long. The Oakers will square off against the Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Coventry is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Coventry is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Cumberland, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Coventry was ranked fourth). The Oakers came out on top against the Clippers by a score of 9-4 on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for the Oakers in their matchups with the Clippers: they've now won four in a row.

Sage SoareS made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, LiLyana BeLL and Izzy Dyl did most of the damage at the plate: Bell went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Dyl went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Bridget Fennessey, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, La Salle Academy put another one in the bag on Sunday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 6-1 win over Silver Lake Regional.
Hailey Vigneau spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, Elle Kershaw was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Samantha Sell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run.
La Salle Academy lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least four home runs in three consecutive games.
La Salle Academy's victory was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-0. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Coventry, their record is now 8-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Coventry has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like La Salle Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Coventry suffered a grim 13-0 defeat to La Salle Academy in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Oakers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
