After both having extra time off, the Mater Academy Charter Lions and the Cooper City Cowboys will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Mater Academy Charter heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Thursday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Everglades. The Lions' defeat signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.
Mater Academy Charter was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Everglades work for it, especially in the third set. The final score came out to 25-20, 23-25, 26-24, 25-19.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from ANGELINE BENOIT, who hit 53.7% for 29 kills and 29 digs and six aces. She is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last 25 games she's played dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Cooper City came up short against St. Thomas Aquinas on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Cowboys haven't had much luck with the Raiders recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-5, 25-16, 25-15.
Cooper City now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Mater Academy Charter, their loss dropped their record down to 12-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Wednesday's match: Mater Academy Charter has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 13.8 aces per game. However, it's not like Cooper City struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 12.7 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Mater Academy Charter was able to grind out a solid victory over Cooper City when the teams last played back in October of 2017, winning 3-1. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Cowboys have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
