Even though the Lathrop Spartans scored an imposing 64 points on Wednesday, the Kimball Jaguars still came out on top. Kimball took their game against Lathrop 71-64. Given Kimball's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 379th, while Lathrop is ranked 1080th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kimball's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaden Ryan, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Osama Mirghani, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Kimball is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for Lathrop, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kimball's road trip will continue as they head out to face Natomas at 7:00 p.m. on December 22nd. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Manno Jenkins and Ryan. As for Lathrop, they will head out on the road to face off against Bear Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bear Creek knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Lathrop likes a good challenge.
