Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Walnut Grove's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Walnut Grove never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They blew past the McKinney North Bulldogs 16-0. Considering the Wildcats have won ten matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Lyndsey Hooker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hooker was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last four times she's played.

In other batting news, Ella Berlage was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Zelda Bobbitt, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Walnut Grove was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Walnut Grove is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. McKinney North is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Walnut Grove will face off against Anna at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for McKinney North, they will challenge Melissa at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Melissa will roll in looking for their 20th straight win, something McKinney North surely won't give up without a fight.
