The Osmond/Randolph Hawks couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were outmatched by St. Mary's at home and fell 75-31. Osmond/Randolph was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-18.
Caydence Krienert and Keli Aschoff certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Krienert scored 6 points along with 9 rebounds, while Aschoff scored 7 points.
St. Mary's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mya Hedstrom, who scored 18 points along with 9 steals and 6 assists. Another player making a difference was Lorissa Reiman, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Osmond/Randolph's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for St. Mary's, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Osmond/Randolph will head out on the road to face off against Ponca at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. Mary's, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Riverside on Friday.
