5A Region 3 recap Oct. 30, 2012
Jordan extended the longest winning streak in 5A Region 3 this week by beating Pleasant Grove, 56-7. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Jordan took down the Vikings 56-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Austin Kafentzis threw for 203 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 34 yards in the win.
Alta's dynamic duo of Chipper Lucero and Mack Richards proved tough for Riverton to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Lucero threw for 291 yards and three touchdowns and Richards had 120 yards receiving. Ammon Barker helped Alta's passing attack out by catching six balls for 106 yards.
Clay Moss was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 18 carries, he ran for 155 yards as Eric Kjar's team topped the Silverwolves. Teammate Dezmond Carter added to the ground attack by rushing for 37 yards.
Alta's Lucero and Barker have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Lucero has thrown for 3106 yards this season, while Barker, a 6-foot-4 receiver, has 54 catches for 1092 yards. Kafentzis from the Beetdiggers leads the league in rushing with 1528 yards.
Jordan led 5A Region 3 in scoring this week after putting up 56 points on Pleasant Grove. Kafentzis in the win.
