Battle Ground Academy is 2-8 against the Cougars since November of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Battle Ground Academy Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Middle Tennessee Christian Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Battle Ground Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Monday.
Last Monday, Battle Ground Academy came up short against the Bulldogs and fell 61-49.
Despite their loss, Battle Ground Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Katelin Cole, who scored 15 points, was perhaps the best of all. Cole is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Abby Mclay, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Middle Tennessee Christian put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They blew past Grace Christian Academy 58-31 at home. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Middle Tennessee Christian.
Middle Tennessee Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Anna clay Shirley out in front who scored 15 points. Madison Graham was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with three steals.
Battle Ground Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Middle Tennessee Christian, they now have a winning record of 12-11.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Battle Ground Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 24.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Middle Tennessee Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.5 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Battle Ground Academy was dealt a bruising 74-44 defeat at the hands of the Cougars when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can Battle Ground Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
