Baseball Recap: Nicholas County Takes a Loss

Nicholas County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Bellevue Tigers, falling 10-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bluejackets of the 8-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Nicholas County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Robinson, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Robinson is becoming a predictor of Nicholas County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-5 when he doesn't). Another was Cash Linville, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Nicholas County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Bellevue, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-3 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nicholas County will square off against Augusta at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Bellevue, they will venture away from home to square off against Villa Madonna at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
