Tanner Kingsley and Anthony Scirpo provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Naugatuck. The connection went for 71 yards, the longest such play in Naugatuck Valley - Copper this season.
Woodland Regional was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating the Greyhounds. The Hawks came in at 17 in the state poll after placing at number 30 last week.
Woodland Regional's dynamic duo of Kingsley and Brian Zaccagnini proved tough for Naugatuck to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Kingsley threw for 502 yards and eight touchdowns and Zaccagnini had 150 yards receiving. Scirpo helped Woodland Regional's passing attack out by catching six balls for 126 yards.
Jerome Love was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 192 yards on 19 carries as Rob Plasky's team defeated Rob Plasky's team. Jason Bradley also contributed to the rushing game with 13 yards on the ground.
St. Paul Catholic's Logan Marchi and Daija Fitzpatrick have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Marchi has thrown for 1867 yards this season, while Fitzpatrick, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 40 catches for 624 yards. The Greyhounds' Mick Pernell leads the league in rushing yards with 725.
Entering into this week's contest against Sacred Heart, Marchi is short just 133 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Hawks take on Holy Cross. Woodland Regional has allowed 125 points this season, while the Crusaders have given up 131. The Hawks allowed 30 points last week as they bested Naugatuck.
Woodland Regional extended the longest winning streak in Naugatuck Valley - Copper this week by beating the Greyhounds, 56-30. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Hawks.
