The Fairfield Knights will challenge the Biglerville Canners at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Wednesday, Fairfield narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past York County Tech 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won four in a row.
Jayden Bell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Fairfield saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Stephen Higgs, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Biglerville had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Hanover on Wednesday as they made off with a 15-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Canners, who have now won three matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Braden Peterson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Gavin Althoff was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Biglerville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Fairfield's victory bumped their record up to 2-4-1. As for Biglerville, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Fairfield has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Biglerville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Fairfield came up short against Biglerville when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 7-3. Will the Knights have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
