Summit is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Brentwood is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Spartans will welcome the Bruins at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Summit is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Summit beat Columbia Central 9-5.
Addison Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits.
On the hitting side, Summit got a big performance out of Lakyn Canada, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey Cathey, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Brentwood never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Ravenwood, sneaking past 2-0.
Brentwood saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sloan Day, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Brentwood hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive matchups.
Brentwood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Summit, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-8.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Summit hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .355. However, it's not like Brentwood struggles in that department as they've averaged .313. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
