The High Island Cardinals will head out on the road to square off against the Zavalla Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. High Island is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
While High Island couldn't quite beat the Pirates on Tuesday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 55-point defeat they were dealt last Friday. High Island fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 50-47.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Drake Barrow, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Drake Albanese, who scored 15 points.
Zavalla won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They were dealt a 81-41 defeat at the hands of Leggett. Zavalla has struggled against the Pirates recently, as their contest on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
High Island has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-18 record this season. As for Zavalla, they dropped their record down to 4-17 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.
High Island won a contest that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in January, slipping by the Eagles 62-61. The rematch might be a little tougher for High Island since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
