Burke welcomed the New Year with a 24-19 win over the Eagles. This was payback for Burke, who suffered a 41-23 loss the last time these two teams met.
Model Secondary School for the Deaf's loss came despite strong showings from Akeisha Jackson and Mattea King. Jackson scored six points along with six steals, while King scored four points along with 16 rebounds and four steals. King is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played.
Burke now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Model Secondary School for the Deaf, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.
