Softball Recap: St. Francis' Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

St. Francis dropped their record down to 13-3 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the IC Catholic Prep Knights by a score of 2-1. The Spartans were not able to make up for their defeat to the Knights from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for IC Catholic Prep, they pushed their record up to 11-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.

For IC Catholic Prep's part, Madelynn Dinino spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, IC Catholic Prep's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sofia Bucaro, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base. Bucaro has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Lexi Hoffman also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Coming up, St. Francis will square off against Serena at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Spartans 3.2, the Huskers 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for IC Catholic Prep, they will take on De La Salle at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
