The Colfax Bulldogs will challenge the Liberty Lancers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Colfax has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with three straight defeats, while Liberty will come in with five straight wins.
Colfax came up short against Freeman last Thursday, falling 14-1.
Colfax saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chevy Booth, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Booth has hit this season.
Meanwhile, Liberty put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna a 5-0 shutout.
Jordyn Jeske made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jesse Brumley, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hanna Perkins, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Liberty's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Colfax, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Colfax hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Liberty struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Colfax suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to Liberty in their previous meeting back in April. Will the Bulldogs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
