The Flanagan/Woodland Falcons won the last time they faced the Cornerstone Christian Cyclones, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Flanagan/Woodland breezed by the Cyclones on the road to the tune of 60-33. Flanagan/Woodland pushed the score to 53-25 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cyclones cut but never quite recovered from.
Flanagan/Woodland was led to victory by Emma Palaschak and Ella Derossett. Palaschak scored 19 points along with four steals, while Derossett scored 27 points along with six assists and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Derossett has scored all season. Aubry Edens was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Despite the loss, Cornerstone Christian still got an impressive performance from Faith Hughes, who scored 15 points. That was a full 45.5% of Cornerstone Christian's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Hope Lehman, who scored seven points.
Flanagan/Woodland's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-16. As for Cornerstone Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.
Flanagan/Woodland won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Vikings at 5:30 p.m. on January 31st. Tri-Valley presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Falcons in Illinois (the Vikings are ranked 147th, while the Falcons are ranked 506th). As for Cornerstone Christian, they and the Knights will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
