The Mountain View Spartans suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They fell just short of Palo Alto by a score of 45-43. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mountain View in their matchups with Palo Alto: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the defeat, Mountain View had strong showings from Alex Cunningham, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Jayden Minor, who scored 16 points along with five assists and two steals. Minor hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Jaden Feller was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with four blocks.
Mountain View has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-7 record this season. As for Palo Alto, their win bumped their record up to 13-4.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Los Gatos the next time they take the court. Palo Alto will head out to face Los Gatos at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Mountain View will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
