Albemarle has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against The North Stanly Comets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Albemarle last Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Union Academy out of the water with a 38-6 final score. The result was nothing new for Albemarle, who have now won three games by 26 points or more so far this season.
Albemarle's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malik Watkins, who rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries. Another big playmaker for Albemarle was Ja?Zyion Geiger, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, North Stanly had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They took down Mount Pleasant 33-16.
Aden Allsbrook was on fire: he rushed for 195 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Another player making a difference was Jay Jackson, who gained 101 total yards and two touchdowns.
Albemarle is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season. As for North Stanly, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2.
Albemarle ended up a good deal behind North Stanly when the teams last played back in October of 2022, losing 44-27. Thankfully for Albemarle, Cameron Smith (who rushed for 237 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.1 yards per carry, and also caught a touchdown) won't be suiting up this time.
