The Columbus Falcons are on the road again on Friday and play against the Warren Central Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Columbus will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 130th, while Warren Central is ranked 13th).
Last Friday, Columbus came up short against Vicksburg and fell 36-24.
Meanwhile, Warren Central had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They walked away with a 27-20 victory over Callaway. 27 seems to be a good number for Warren Central as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Warren Central can attribute much of their success to Eric Collins Jr., who rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns. Collins Jr. was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards.
Columbus' defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-9. As for Warren Central, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Columbus might still be hurting after the 37-14 loss they got from Warren Central in their previous meeting back in November of 2014. Can Columbus avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
