After flying high against the Providence Classical Christian Warriors last Monday, the Trinity Prep Lions came back down to earth. Trinity Prep took a 60-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hills Academy on Thursday. If Trinity Prep hoped to take revenge for the 49-44 loss against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Trinity Prep's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ace Stevens, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. Stevens is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Allan Ray IV, who scored 16 points along with three steals.
Hills Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Micah Pugh, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 17 rebounds. Pugh is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Adrian Campbell was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five steals.
Trinity Prep's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Hills Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
Trinity Prep will square off against Furtah Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Furtah Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 15 contests -- so hopefully Trinity Prep likes a good challenge. Hills Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against New Creation Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th.
