Softball Recap: Saguaro Wins Going Away Against St. Mary's

While Saguaro put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for St. Mary. The Sabercats were the clear victors by a 19-0 margin over the Knights. The Sabercats haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Malina Morones made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Morones was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Hailey Holliday and Sophia Chouinard did most of the damage at the plate: Holliday got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and one triple, while Chouinard went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Chouinard has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Tyler Moag was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Saguaro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .659. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Saguaro's record is now 12-13. As for St. Mary's, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 13 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season.

Saguaro will have a chance to go back-to-back against St. Mary's: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
