Basketball Recap: Northeast Drops Season-High Score on Hollins

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northeast). They claimed a resounding 52-17 win over the Hollins Royals. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Vikings with their most commanding win of the season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northeast to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jy'Aira Washington, who went 11 of 22 en route to 23 points in addition to five boards and three steals. With that strong performance, Washington is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Lila Speights was another key player, putting up ten points and eight rebounds.

Northeast smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Hollins still got an impressive performance from Summer Morgan, who posted 11 points and five steals. Morgan has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. Khloe Young also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Northeast's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-10. As for Hollins, their record now sits at 2-11.

Northeast has already played their next match, a 48-28 defeat against Dunedin on the 15th. As for Hollins, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-34 loss against Calvary Christian on the 14th.
