Given their disadvantage in the MaxPreps state rankings, West Platte should expect quite the challenge on Friday. They will look to defend their home turf against Lawson at 7:00 PM. With the two teams each stumbling in off of a loss, both will be hungry for the win.
Last week, West Platte were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap, as they fell 26-30 to South Harrison. West Platte got a solid performance out of senior Noah Johnson, who passed for 165 yards and 3 touchdowns; unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the victory. In fact, with 16 tackles Johnson was a force on both sides of the ball.
Meanwhile, Lawson simply couldn't be stopped, as they easily beat Lafayette County 35-0.
Lawson's win lifted them to 2-0 while West Platte's defeat dropped them down to 1-1. We'll find out if Lawson can add another positive mark to their record or if West Platte can shake off the defeat and take the spring out of Lawson's step.
