King William has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge The West Point Pointers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, King William took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 42-14 win over Mechanicsville. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as King William just coasted through the last quarter.
King William's success was spearheaded by the efforts of James Stewart, who rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns, and Jahmari Dupree-Wade, who rushed for 190 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. Stewart hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for three straight games. Marty Braxton got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, West Point had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28 points), and they went ahead and made it five last Monday. They breezed by King & Queen Central on the road to the tune of 48-8. The result was nothing new for West Point, who have now won four matches by 23 points or more so far this season.
Elijah Adkins continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 146 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.1 yards per carry, and also catching a touchdown. Adkins hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Gage Davis, who threw for 113 yards and two touchdowns on only eight passes.
King William's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for West Point, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-2.
Friday's match might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. King William has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 194.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like West Point struggles in that department as they've been even better at 275.2 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Everything came up roses for King William against West Point in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 48-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for King William since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
