In what's become a running theme this season, the Fernley Vaqueros gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 43-23 margin over Elko. The victory was nothing new for Fernley as they're now sitting on eight straight.
Fernley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Johnnie Williams, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Sheldon Jacobson, who scored six points along with four steals.
Fernley pushed their record up to 15-2 with that victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 27.42 points. As for Elko, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-7.
Fernley won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Spring Creek at 2:30 p.m. on January 13th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Spring Creek is ranked 32nd, while Fernley is ranked 11th). Elko will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Dayton at 2:30 p.m. on January 13th. Dayton is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
