The Mayfield Panthers will square off against the Northville Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. Northville took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Mayfield, who comes in off a win.
Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Mayfield turned things around against Notre Dame Bishop Gibbons on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Golden Knights with a sharp 11-4 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Panthers needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Carter Goodemote and Landon Conyne made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Goodemote tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Conyne pitched three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. At bat, Goodemote went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Conyne went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That double was Goodemote's first of the season.

In other batting news, Mayfield let Aiden Horn (C) and Cubby Roth (C) run wild. Horn (C) went a perfect 3-for-3 with seven stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Roth (C) got on base in three of his four plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. Mayfield is 2-1 when Horn (C) posts two or more stolen bases, but 0-10 otherwise. Grady Shea was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Northville came up short against Warrensburg on Saturday and fell 4-1.
Northville saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Dickinson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.
Mayfield's win bumped their record up to 2-11. As for Northville, they dropped their record down to 1-10 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Sunday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mayfield has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Northville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Mayfield's way against Northville when the teams last played back in May of 2022, as Mayfield made off with a 7-0 victory. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
