Football Recap: Monroe Area Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Monroe Area had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past the Loganville Red Devils, posting a 44-0 victory. The Purple Hurricanes haven't had any issues with the Red Devils recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Monroe Area got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jitt Carr out in front who rushed for 201 yards and two TDs while picking up 12.6 yards per carry. Carr really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run. Another player making a difference was Ezra Harrison, who rushed for 68 yards and one touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Monroe Area was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 393 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in August of 2024.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monroe Area will venture away from home to square off against Cedar Shoals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Loganville, they will head out to take on Walnut Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
