Jefferson is 0-3 against Plant City since March of 2018 but things could change on Tuesday. The Dragons will venture away from home to take on the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Jefferson made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Lennard, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Dragons put the hurt on the Longhorns with a sharp 11-1 win on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Dragons.
Madisen Fleming was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Jefferson let Amaris Dominguez and Anais Ortiz run wild. Dominguez went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Ortiz scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those four runs gave Ortiz a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jania Santos, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Plant City entered their tilt with Robinson on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Knights get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory.
Like Jefferson, Plant City also got a great game from a two-way player: Kayleigh Gibbs. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Gibbs was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Kyleigh Meiers was a standout: she scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Rylee Mobley, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.
Plant City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .371 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Plant City's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Jefferson, their record is now 9-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Jefferson has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Plant City struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Jefferson might still be hurting after the 17-9 loss they got from Plant City when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can the Dragons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
