The Maloney Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher  on Friday after their tenth straight  defeat. They took a hard  39-20 fall against Berlin. While losing is never fun, Maloney can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings  (they are ranked 135th, while the Redcoats are ranked 34th).
  Emma Ellison was  her usual excellent self,  almost  dropping  a double-double on 17 points and nine  rebounds for Berlin. Another player making a difference was  Madelynn Sadowski, who  scored two points along with six  rebounds and four  steals.
 Maloney's defeat was  their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which  dropped their record down to 1-14. Those losses could be blamed on the team's  offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.0 points per game. As for Berlin,  the  win  makes it two in a row for them and  bumps their season record up to 12-5.
 Maloney will head out on the road to  challenge  the Spartans at 6:00  p.m.  on Monday. As for Berlin, they will be playing at home against the Lancers at 6:45  p.m.  on Monday.
